Melody Joy Maldonado
Hello, my name is Melody Joy Maldonado. I’m a senior here at Morton High School. I was born on December 5, 2001, in Levelland, Texas but have lived in this little town of Morton my entire life. My mother is Luisa Martinez-Abston, she teaches Spanish, Art, and Creative Writing. She is also one of my cheer sponsors here at Morton High.

I’ve been involved in many things over the years, but focusing only on my senior year I have done a lot. I am the president of my class, design editor for the yearbook, secretary for FCCLA, secretary for NHS, president of the student council, a journalist for the newspaper, co-head cheerleader alongside my classmate Hannah Mankin, was the drum major for the marching band, and was crowned Band Sweetheart during homecoming week. I plan on continuing to do One-Act Play; I received All-Star Cast at Bi-District my junior year, as well as continuing to compete in UIL; I was a regional qualifier for both Prose and Copy Editing.

I guess you could say that I am really involved in my high school. As for my plans after high school, I am currently enrolled in Dual Credit courses through South Plains College and plan on attending that school to receive an associate's degree in fine arts. I am really blessed to have been able to take Dual Credit courses while enrolled in high school because once I get to college at SPC I will only need two semesters to graduate. I am grateful for the opportunities and friends I have made along the way here at Morton. I cannot wait for what the future holds for me, but I will always remember Morton as my home.
