There is an old saying that if you really want something, keep trying until to get it.  That is the story of Ethan Boggs.

The senior golfer won the State 2A Golf Championship yesterday.  It was his third year at the tournament.

“I am so proud of Ethan and his hard work and perseverance,” Coach Zack Williams said. “He worked hard and didn’t give up and that is what won it all for him.”

Ethan had advanced to the championship round in his Sophomore and Junior year but was not able to win.  Coach Williams said that had to do with overcoming bad shots.

“We didn’t go down there to play, we went down there to win and yes, I expected him to win,” Coach Williams said.  “He was able to recover from bad shots this year and he was a lot sharper mentally and that is ultimately what won it for him.”

Ethan’s mom, Holly Boggs, says that Ethan was dedicated to his purpose of winning this year.

“I was very proud of Ethan,” Boggs said.  “He works very hard for everything he earns in life and this is no exception.”

The family still has not had an opportunity to celebrate the big win.

“At the end when the scores came in, we loaded up in the vehicle and came home,” Boggs said.  “We haven’t had a chance to celebrate yet but are looking forward to doing that.”
