Amy Ramsey has been coaching and teaching all over the state of Texas.  Electra, Refugio, Ranger, Gatesville, and now Morton.

Coach Ramsey and her husband, the new Athletic Director at Morton, moved to town this summer to take on coaching and teaching duties for the district.

“Morton has been a great place for our family,” Ramsy said. “Everyone has been very friendly and welcoming.”

Ramsey is especially happy that she has the opportunity to coach here with her husband, Brian.

“I am glad that we have the opportunity to work together,” Ramsey said.  ” With both of us coaching, we don’t;’ see each other much, so having the opportunity to work together and teach a class together is nice.”

Although she is teaching junior high science and social studies at Morton, Ramsey has taught a variety of classes in her career like Business Information Management (BIM), PE, Web Design, Keyboarding, Careers, and Teen Leadership.

“My favorite would be BIM or any business type class,” Ramsey said. “But I thoroughly enjoy teaching junior high science too, and PE is fun!”

Ramsey says the best part of her coaching position is the girls she has the opportunity to work with.

“I love coaching my girls,” Ramsey said. “They work hard for me and make going to practice, most days, enjoyable.  They have worked hard this year and have shown so much progress.  We are learning from each other and we are playing much better as a team.”

But it is not all about coaching for Ramsey.  She enjoys spending time with her family as well.  She also enjoys painting and all outdoor activities.

“We enjoy camping, hunting, or anything outdoors,” Ramsey said.  “And, of course, sports or anything competitive.”

The Ramseys have three children, Michael (26) an RN, Sealeigh (20) in nursing school at Grayson College, and Barron (10) in the fourth grade at Morton Elementary.
